Question: What is the significance of eating and drinking bread and wine as symbolic of our Lord’s body and blood? What happens if we eat or drink unworthily according to 1Corithians 11:28?
Those people that partake of “the Lord’s Supper”; .i.e. meet to specifically remember the Lord’s Sacrifice of Himself for their sin and sinning, are part of “His Body”; and when raised from death, or raptured, “will be with Him for ever”: (1Thess. 4:17)!
So, why would we not partake with remembrance and Love?
Firstly, it is a reminder to all of us, to approach our Lord with reverence, remembering Who we are meeting, and why!
There are many other reasons that people would “infiltrate” a Group of Christians, to cause problems and degrade the Sanctity of the Meeting and Occasion, which are linked to the enemy Satan, who will disrupt and cause division in the Lord’s people. It is important to not attend in an attitude of conflict or anger!
When meeting the Lord in such a way as described above, we should always remember our personal behaviour and attitude as appropriate to meeting “The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords”!
